Creative Connections is extremely proud of the students at Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design (WHSAD) for taking on an exciting new project! WHSAD is a community school in Brooklyn where Creative Connections has been the lead CBO for the last two years.
On January 21, 2019, students from WHSAD participated in a new environmental revitalization project at Lake Como, New Jersey. The students met Mayor Kevin Higgins and Jon Gibbons, the chair of the Lake Como Environmental Commission. After taking a tour of the town, students participated in a forum with other contributors such as H.E.A.L.T.H. for Youths, Spring Lake, and Monmouth University to share ideas on creating five environmental destinations for the small town.
The Creative Connections Community School Director Matt Auffrey accompanied students on the trip and commented on the success of the trip, saying that “the WHSAD students actively participated in this [community] discussion to obtain more information about their role in the project and offer ideas on how the town can best utilize their resources.” We look forward to supporting WHSAD students on their new project!
